I am tired of all of this nonsense. I am tired of hearing how the elephant in the room party’s candidate has done one reprehensible thing after another. I am tired of hearing how the jackass party’s candidate is evil personified. I am just sick of it.
Honestly, I have no confidence in the two main political parties. The Democratic party has made significant strides to ostracize their voters, whittling themselves down dramatically, all in the name of “progress”. At the same time, the Republican party has been betraying its voters, ignoring the voices of the conservatives also in the spirit of “progress”. Both parties are looking more and more like each other and less like a party for anyone who is socially conservative (much less economically). The two parties should just merge into a single progressive party and be done with it, stop the farce that they are separate entities. Make a new progressive party from the remains of the Democrats and Republicans, and let the conservatives from those parties separate out and merge together into a new party. Or join one of the various 3rd-party groups already in existence.
I am tired of people telling me that if I don’t vote for their particular favorite candidate (beit Clinton or Trump), then I am in effect voting for the other one (beit Trump or Clinton respectively). I say it is a load of crap. Third-party votes count, and always have in this country. Sometimes, when the third party wins an election, it becomes a primary party. Like in the case of the Republican party, for example.
Personally, I cannot vote for Trump or Clinton in good conscience. From what I can tell, they are two sides of the same coin. There just is too much baggage with both, too many problems out in the open air. Just can’t pull the trigger on either one. There are some good options from third-party groups this year, and I have landed into the Darryl Castle camp for the Constitution Party. He is very blatant about being pro-life, pro-natural marriage, pro-religious liberty, anti-government overreach, pro-free market, anti-tax, pro-constitution. There just is way too much about his positions on the issues I believe are most important that I line up 100% with him on.
I have, for quite a while, seen myself less as a “conservative”, which is the political category for conserving tradition and the history of this country, and more along the lines of a small-l “libertarian” that is more like a historic/classic liberal, that is believing that the freedoms that were won for our country are very important, and that our nation was established to oppose oppressive, overreaching, centralized governments.
America was a grand experiment in letting the people have freedom to choose for themselves and their families. It was based on having small to almost non-existent centralized/federal power, and more power given to state & local governments. That we could be a confederation of individual States that is a single nation, but recognizes there are differences between each community and individual. This was codified in the Bill of Rights, which was so important to the people that the Constitution was not able to be approved without it. And those very rights are what have been attacked and in some cases flat-out destroyed over the years since leading to where we are now. The very rights out founding fathers fought for to ensure that people in this new country would be protected.
I want to see our government largely dismantled and restored to its correct position — protecting its citizens, and not sticking its fingers in everything else it shouldn’t. I want to see out market freed up once more. I want to see our currency bound back to the gold standard rather than the play-money status it has had for decades. I want to see the Federal Reserve abolished. I want to see the sanctity of life restored back to this country. I want the family to be put back in its rightful role as the driving force for our nation, and to no longer be under attack by multiple fronts. I would love to see our lawmakers have to earn a living outside of politics (like it used to be). I want morality and ethics to be something taught to children again, but for the government to no longer be dictating the schools’ curriculum. Taxes should be minimized to just what is essential to help with the protection of the citizens: paying first-responders like fire, police, EMT, military, and the basic infrastructure necessary for making all of that work.
If those things would happen, then I think our country would be an amazing world power. Instead we have fallen so far from the original intent of our country that we have become the very thing our founding fathers had fought against. And that’s the honest truth.
